Begin your ultimate 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes by heading south toward the majestic High Atlas Mountains. Crossing the high-altitude Tizi n’Tichka Pass, you will experience panoramic views of ancient Berber villages before arriving at the iconic Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. As a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site, this fortified village is a staple of Morocco sightseeing, having served as a cinematic backdrop for over 20 Hollywood films.
The journey continues through Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the Sahara, and into the lush Skoura Oasis with its sprawling palm groves. You will then explore the fragrant Valley of Roses, a region famous for its annual Rose Festival (Moussem of Roses) held every May. After a delicious breakfast, you will begin the final leg of your Morocco adventure, traveling north through the sprawling Tafilalet palm grove, widely considered the largest in the world. As you drive along this scenic route, you will encounter the lush Ziz Valley, where the river flowing from the High Atlas Mountains creates a stunning green oasis. Your journey continues over the high-altitude “Camel Pass” (Tizi n’Talghomt), reaching heights of 1,907 meters as you traverse the rugged mountains toward Midelt, the heart of the Atlas region, for a relaxing lunch break. In the afternoon, the landscape shifts as you enter the ancient Cedar Forest of Azrou, where you may spot wild Barbary macaques (monkeys) among the trees. Before completing your transfer to Fes, you will explore Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Renowned for its alpine architecture, pristine gardens, and the Michlifen ski resort, Ifrane offers a unique European atmosphere in the Middle Atlas.
